The short answer

Is OneRep legit?

OneRep does what it sells. It scans people-search sites for your name, files opt-out requests and rescans to catch relistings, and independent testers have seen real removals: The Removal Lab reported 42% of tracked listings removed over about four months, above the 35% average Consumer Reports measured across paid services in 2024, and below leaders such as Optery and EasyOptOuts.

The question buyers are really asking is whether to trust it with their data. On March 14, 2024, KrebsOnSecurity reported that OneRep's founder and CEO, Dimitri Shelest, had launched dozens of people-search services since 2010 and still held a stake in Nuwber, a data broker OneRep itself removes customers from. Shelest acknowledged the stake. That is a conflict of interest, not proof of misuse, but it is the reason this page exists.

What happened with Mozilla

Why did Mozilla drop OneRep?

Mozilla had built its paid Monitor Plus removal service on top of OneRep. After the Krebs report in March 2024, Mozilla said the outside financial interests of OneRep's CEO "do not align with our values" and that it would wind the partnership down.

The wind-down took far longer than announced. Krebs reported in February 2025 that Mozilla was still promoting OneRep, and in November 2025 that the partnership would finally end. Mozilla closed Monitor Plus on December 17, 2025, with prorated refunds. If you bought Monitor Plus, your removals were being done by OneRep, and you now need a replacement.

Both remove you from 317 people-search sites. What it does well

Where OneRep is strong

On price and household coverage OneRep is competitive. A family plan for up to six people at about $180 a year is one of the lowest per-person prices in the category, and the trial shows you the exposure report before you commit.

The removal engine is also widely used: OneRep has powered white-label privacy products for other brands, which is how it ended up inside Mozilla Monitor Plus. The automation works on the large people-search sites that publish addresses and phone numbers.

The verdict

Should you use OneRep?

If price is your only criterion and the ownership history does not bother you, OneRep is a functional, low-cost service, especially for a large household. Many buyers, though, are paying precisely to get away from the people-search industry, and hand a removal service their full name, every past address, phone numbers and date of birth. For them, a founder with a stake in a data broker is a reasonable dealbreaker.

Deindex has no ownership in any data broker or people-search site.
