Instant Checkmate has no removal form of its own. Everything runs through the PeopleConnect Suppression Center, and the flow has more steps than people expect, with two places it quietly fails. Walking it once with the sequence in front of you takes about ten minutes and saves the repeat attempt almost everybody makes.
The sequence, in order
Open suppression.peopleconnect.us, enter an email address, accept the terms and continue. PeopleConnect emails a verification link. Click it, then confirm your date of birth, then type your full legal name, then pick the record that matches you from the results. At that point it asks for an identity verification code sent to your email or phone. Only after that code goes in do you reach the step that matters.
The dropdown nobody notices
The final screen has a field labelled Desired Behavior with a dropdown. You have to set it to Suppressed and click Save. Reaching this screen and closing the tab without changing that dropdown files nothing at all, and the site gives you no warning. This is the single most common reason somebody is certain they opted out and is still listed weeks later. If you remember completing a form but never remember choosing Suppressed, you did not finish.
The verification link expires in about fifteen minutes
The email PeopleConnect sends has a short life, commonly reported at around fifteen minutes. Start the process from a device where you can open that inbox immediately rather than filing from a work computer and planning to check your phone later. An expired link sends you back to the first screen with nothing saved.
