Remove Home Address From Google Search and the People-Search Sites Behind It
Enter your name, city and state. The scan shows which people-search sites publish your street address, which are the pages Google keeps showing when someone searches you.
No account needed. Adding a city and state is what lets us tell your record apart from everyone who shares your name.
The short answer
Google can hide a result that shows your home address, but only the site that published it can delete it.
To remove your home address from Google search, submit each result through Google's Results About You tool, then opt out at the people-search sites that publish the address. Those sites are the source of almost every address result. Google hides the link for searches of your name, the opt-out takes the page down, and a rescan every few weeks catches the relisting that usually follows.
Find the source
Where your home address on Google comes from
Google does not know where you live. It shows pages that say so. Match every result to its source and you know which ones you can take down and which need a different route.
| Source | What you see | In Google | At the source |
|---|---|---|---|
| People-search profile | A page with your name, age, current and past addresses, phone and relatives | Results About You can hide the result | Opt out at the site, then watch for relisting |
| Background-check preview | A free teaser listing your city and street, with a paid report behind it | Results About You can hide the result | Opt out at the site and at its sister sites |
| County property records | Assessor or recorder pages showing the owner name for a parcel | Usually not removed, public record | Some states let judges, police and survivors shield records |
| Old business filing | An LLC or DBA registered to your home address | Usually not removed, public record | File an amendment with a registered agent address |
| Google Business Profile | A home-based business that shows its street address on Maps | You control it in your profile | Switch to a service-area business and hide the address |
The first two rows are the ones you can fix today, and they are also the ones that rank. Each broker has its own opt-out, and our people-search removal guides list the exact form, what ID it asks for and how long it takes.
Step by step
How to remove your home address from Google search
Search your address, not just your name
Search your full name with your city, then search your street address in quotes. Each result that ties your name to the address goes on the list. Nine times out of ten the top results are people-search sites like Whitepages, Spokeo, TruePeopleSearch and FastPeopleSearch.
Request removal in Results About You
In the Google app or at myactivity.google.com/results-about-you, submit each result that shows your home address. Google reviews it and, when the page exposes contact details, removes it from searches for your name. This hides the result. It does not delete the page.
Remove the address at the source
Opt out at every people-search site that lists you. Most need an email confirmation and some want a phone call or ID. Skip this and the page keeps ranking under other searches, and a result Google hid can come back once the site republishes it.
Watch for the relisting
Brokers rebuild profiles from voter files, property deeds and change-of-address data. A listing you removed in March can be back in June at a new URL. Recheck every few weeks, or pay a service to rescan and refile for you.
For the Google side in more detail, including what the review team will and will not remove, see remove personal information from Google. If a result still shows the old address after the page has changed, the Google outdated content removal tool forces a recrawl.
Do it yourself or pay
What it takes to keep your address off Google
Doing it yourself costs nothing but time. The time is the problem, because the job does not end after the first round.
Do it yourself
Expect 6 to 10 hours for the first pass across the big people-search sites: forms, email confirmations, a few phone verifications. Then a recheck every month or two, because removed profiles come back from new public records. It works if you are patient and your risk is low.
Deindex Personal
$49 a month or $288 a year for one person. We find your address on 50 people-search sites and brokers, file each removal under the privacy law that applies to you, rescan, and refile when a listing returns. Every removal gets a dated before-and-after screenshot.
Deindex Family or Executive
A home address is shared, so a spouse or adult child listed at the same street leaks it again. Family covers up to five people for $588 a year. Executive ($888 a year) adds weekly rescans and a quarterly PDF report for a security team or lawyer.
Comparing providers first? Our best data removal service comparison puts DeleteMe, Incogni, Optery, Aura and Deindex side by side on price, coverage and proof. All plans and limits are on the pricing page.
When it is urgent
Who should remove a home address first
If someone has threatened you, is harassing you online, or you have left an abusive relationship, a people-search page with your street address and a list of your relatives is a map to your front door. Take the source listings down first and hide the Google results the same day. Keep screenshots of everything, because a protective order or a police report goes further with dated evidence of what was published.
The same applies to people whose job makes them a target: physicians, prosecutors, judges, landlords, journalists, and executives whose name is in the news. Several states let some of these groups shield property and voter records as well. For a whole leadership team, our data removal for business plans cover executives and staff under one contract.
FAQ
Questions people ask about removing a home address from Google
Submit each result that shows your address through Google's Results About You tool, then opt out at the people-search sites that publish it. Google hides the result for searches of your name, and the opt-out removes the page itself so it stops ranking anywhere. Recheck every few weeks, because brokers relist.
Because a website published it and Google indexed that page. For most people it is a people-search or background-check site that pulled the address from property deeds, voter rolls or change-of-address data. Google only shows what those sites publish, so removing the listing is what removes the result.
Yes. Data removal services file opt-outs with people-search sites and data brokers for you, then rescan and refile when your address reappears. Deindex costs $49 a month or $288 a year for one person and $588 a year for up to five, with a dated screenshot for every listing it removes.
The home label in your Google account is private to you, and you can delete it under Personal info in your Google account. If a Business Profile shows your home address, switch it to a service-area business and hide the address. To blur your house in Street View, use Report a problem in Street View.
Google usually reviews a Results About You request within a few days. People-search opt-outs take from 24 hours to about 45 days depending on the site, and the Google result can linger until Google recrawls the page. Most addresses are gone from the first page of results within a month.
Often, yes. People-search sites rebuild profiles whenever a new public record comes in, such as a deed, a voter registration or a forwarding order. That is why a one-time cleanup rarely holds. Deindex rescans every covered site and refiles on its own when a listing returns.
